The Story behind the quilt I'm giving away this weekend...

I had to use our little point and shoot camera, so the pictures aren't so great. Never mind. This quilt is vibrant. A few months ago I decided that I would make another quilt to give away at our church women's camp. We all take presents and over the weekend they are given away. I didn't want it to be about me, (like yay Deb made a quilt) but about God who loves us OUTRAGEOUSLY. Giving away a quilt is outrageous, don't you think? I always want to keep them!!
I found a half jelly roll at Spotlight with lovely vibrant colours and put it away, thinking, that would be great for camp, nice and bright. I wondered what pattern to use and what God was saying to the lady who gets it.
It came to me about David's Aunty Jean who has Alzheimer's. Before she got sick she was quite abrupt, but now she is the most gentle lovely person you can meet and I realised that all those years she has been keeping her heart pure and clean and now that the facade has gone you can see that person underneath. I love spending time with her and her love for God shines in everything she says. Amazing.
So I've made a quilt with big log cabins which represent the windows into our soul. This quilt is to remind us that we are to let people know what is going on inside and also to make sure that even if we put our happy face on, we need to square it up with God to keep our hearts happy too. Let's not stash bitterness and resentment there where noone can see it.
(The back is quite pretty too!)
I do hope it's new owner loves it as much as I do.
Whoever you are, I've prayed for you so much
as I made this quilt.
Enjoy!

  8. What a fantastic story behind the quilt you are going to give away. I don't "do" God, but still can relate to that sentiment. We do need to keep our hearts open. It's beautiful quilt.
