Summertimes Kite Festival...

This afternoon we went down to New Brighton beach
to see the kite festival.

It was fantastic, the kites were so pretty.

The kiddies played in the sun and the sand and the water

This was my favourite, it wasn't huge but it was so pretty.

Massive hole in the ground.
I sat and did some knitting, I'm determined to get Annie's cardy finished for winter
so a row here and a row there to get it done.

We just got back from there. Now have some tired and grumpy children but it was a great afternoon.

Such beautiful kites! It brings a bit of summer here in the middle of the winter. Oh, and to be at the beach now instead of tromping through the snow!

I posted a short video of Kite Day on YouTube - see http://youtu.be/LFTjn6MoAVo

We hope to have another event before next year, maybe quite soon.
