Slowing down...

After the busyness of the last few weekends,
we were determined to have a quieter one this week.
And we have. It's been great. On Saturday Night we had friends for dinner.

But while we were having dinner,
we decided they should have a sleepover. The kiddies were tired so we popped
them into beds. And then we sat around and talked and talked till midnight.

Then we woke up at the crack of dawn (courtesy of Miss Insomniac)
and drank a couple of cups of coffee each and talked some more.

And then David made a double batch of pancakes while I set the table.
A cloth, our thrifted napkins and napkin rings
and our cheerful plates.

A few toppings and some lemonade and we were set.
It was great. Simple simple fun.
It felt like a party though, cause we made a bit of an effort to make it look nice.
I love making it look pretty.

Then the kids went off to jump on the mattress in the living room
and we made a pot of tea and talked some more.

And then we made a pot of coffee and kept on talking.

It was just what the doctor ordered really.

Everybody settled in and had good homemade fun.

Nobody goes cold in our house. Plenty of quilts to snuggle under.

And just before lunch our friends went home
and we all felt like we'd had a few days holiday.

Everybody needs friends they can just hang out with and not worry too much.
It doesn't have to be fancy, a homemade pizza dinner
and a pancake breakfast is fine.

Slowing down was just what the doctor ordered,
we feel much more able to face the week!

What did you do this weekend??
Did you slow down??

What ever you did, I hope you have a great week.
