One thousand days....

One thousand days ago our lives changed for ever,
so much so that it's really hard to remember what life was like before,
what on earth did we worry about??

We had no idea that this was so at the time,
we thought we had escaped the bullet, no one had died
we thought we were going to be ok.

We tried to get on with life, amidst hundred of aftershocks,
to keep our wee painting business running and find work.

We didn't know the worse was yet to come.
We didn't know that the fault lines beneath our city (that we didn't know were there)
were only just beginning their activities.

I have written about all this many many times,
but today I just want to stop for a moment
and think, 1000 days... wow!

Somehow we are still here.
We are still living.
We are still functioning.

Sometimes we feel a bit crazy,
sometimes we feel sad.

But 1000 days people! it's amazing.

1000 DAYS!

  1. *hugs* 1000 days and you have so much strength and love!

  2. Wow 1000 days sounds like a lifetime. 1000 hard & stressful days... Not loving chch today.

  3. Thinking of you as you remember. I know you see evidence of Christchurch's trauma every day, but actually specifically taking time to remember can be overwhelming. Take care of you today.
    With love and hugs,
    Anne xx

  4. I'm just dropping by from Farm Fancies, so I haven't been following your blog...It is the way of the world isn't it that when people hear of disasters in neighbouring countries they want to do all they can to help...but oh how quickly we forget...
Thank you for reminding us that you continue in your personal struggle and how lucky we are to have so far been spared so much personal turmoil at such a massive scale.
I will light a candle for your city today, to send out some positive energy your way.

  5. Life changing for sure. A new reality. Amazing how quickly and slowly a thousand days can pass.

  6. It is incredible to think it is 1,000 days. So much has happened since then, but of course there is still so much to do.
    Best wishes.

  7. own thoughts today have been very similar -we've been through so much, but we're still here!

  8. I think it's made many of us stronger, but for some it's been really hard. It's brought out the best in some, and the worst in others, but in the end we'll get through and look back later in life and say "We survived a very challenging time in the best way we could". Hugs.

  9. Wowie - big hugs to all you strong courageous folk xx

Thanks so much for dropping by. I love to hear from you and I want you to know that I really appreciate each comment!!
